Newport Institute - Young Adult OCD Program
Newport Academy offers a specialized program for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related anxiety conditions, catering to young adults aged 18-35 who reside in gender-specific homes. During treatment, academic support is provided through a Learning Lab and an onsite tutor. Family involvement is emphasized, with family therapy and ongoing communication to facilitate collective healing.
Structured OCD Treatment
Newport Academy’s OCD treatment focuses on exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), involving 4.5 hours of therapy per day, 5 days a week. ERP is conducted in both group and individual settings, supplemented by independent homework assignments. Additional evidence-based therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Experiential therapies like horticulture therapy, creative therapies, and adventure therapies promote emotional regulation and teach coping strategies.
Personalized Care for Patients and Families
The experienced staff at Newport Academy includes psychiatrists, family therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, art therapists, music therapists, dieticians, and adventure therapists. Treatment begins with an initial psychiatric evaluation to guide personalized care and medication management. Young adults and their families receive psychoeducation on OCD and participate in family therapy sessions to facilitate holistic healing.
Accredited Services and Educational Support
Newport Academy offers on-site academic support with equipped learning facilities and dedicated tutors. Tutors assist young adults in their collegiate studies, college applications, and vocational skill development. Grounded in compassion and research, Newport Academy continually evaluates the effectiveness of their treatment through ongoing outcome studies.
