Muncie Comprehensive Treatment Center

I have been in treatment for alittle over 10 year! I had to travel to Richmond till this one opened up. For this place being fairly new there doing a good job. The nurses have all been nice and listen to you. Most of the counselors there are nice to talk but there is a few of them that need more training on how to talk to someone that has be suffering with addiction. Other then that i would recommend anyone that needs treatment. That this place is the way to go!

The Good: Staff is very understanding & non-judgmental. All of the staff members will do everything they can to help their patients navigate their addiction issues & address them in a healthy manner! Dr. Mary Scamardo really listens & works w/her patients on a personal level, & shows a pathway to success. You can tell she really believes in her work. She genuinely cares about her patients & their success w/in the program matters to her. In a world that has zero compassion & even less empathy for people struggling in addiction, it’s a damn good feeling to know people truly care about your loved one!
The ‘bad’ (unfortunately in 2022, similar facilities are having the same struggles, if not worse): The staff (a little of nursing staff & A LOT of counselors) have an unbelievably high turn over rate. CRAZY high for a doctors office setting…@ least 10 counselors have come & gone in 1.5 years. At times it’s difficult for a patient to have a steady amount of resources, bc they can change monthly. & because the facility is already understaffed, losing additional staff means patients aren’t even notified until they miss a session or whenever the patient starts asking questions about why they didn’t get a email reply or returned phone call. The doctor has an enormous amount of patients to see on a regular basis, so I’m sure that can be difficult for her, & sometimes it may take a few days to a week to get in to see her & talk.

I am so grateful for Dr. Mary and Dewayne Stevens. I have been in recovery for 5 years and have been going to CTC for 3. They are the biggest part of my recovery that I am so extremely grateful for. I am a peer recovery specialist and am helping others in recovery. If it wasn’t for them and their continued support and understanding, I truly don’t know if I would be where I am at today. They have saved my life, and they continue to push me towards all of my life goals. I love that they are a part of my journey.
