Positive Recovery Centers provides comprehensive, personalized treatment for adults dealing with addiction and co-occurring disorders across multiple locations in the greater Houston, Hill Country, and Dallas/Fort Worth areas. Their Energy Corridor location offers a variety of outpatient services, including a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), supportive outpatient program (SOP), and intensive outpatient virtual therapy services.

Their continuum of care is designed to gradually increase personal responsibility while steadily decreasing the need for intensive and structured care, all while providing ongoing support to clients and their families.

Comprehensive Outpatient Care

The partial hospitalization program (PHP) at Positive Recovery offers the highest level of outpatient structure and accountability. PHP often serves as a bridge during the transition from residential to outpatient care, providing a more intensive treatment program while allowing clients the flexibility to live at home or in a sober living setting. Their PHP program is ideal for individuals stepping down from residential treatment or seeking sobriety without 24/7 monitoring and stabilization.

Clients in PHP participate in a minimum of 20 hours of structured treatment per week, in addition to meeting weekly with a physician who may provide medication management services when necessary. The programming at Positive Recovery is deeply rooted in the scientifically proven ‘positive recovery’ curriculum, combined with other evidence-based methods. Additionally, recreational and experiential activities such as music and art appreciation may be offered to encourage self-discovery and emotional growth.

Similar to PHP, their intensive outpatient program (IOP) is suitable for individuals ready to resume work, school, or other responsibilities. IOP fully engages clients in treatment while providing flexibility with daytime, evening, and virtual options. Clients typically attend 9-12 hours of treatment 3-4 days per week over 8 weeks, focusing on topics such as developing coping and life skills, managing symptoms, relapse prevention, and establishing an outside support system.

Supportive outpatient programming (SOP) offers individual counseling on an outpatient basis for clients navigating early recovery, often after completing PHP or IOP. Clients can continue their recovery journey in a safe, supportive, and structured environment that reinforces positive behaviors and promotes further healing and growth.

Family Involvement and Aftercare

Positive Recovery’s comprehensive treatment includes family involvement and supportive aftercare services. Family workshops address the needs of all family members, promoting positive behavioral changes and open, honest communication. Clients and family members participate in educational lectures, group therapy, and experiential activities that foster understanding and growth.

Clients enrolled in aftercare services participate in weekly group support meetings led by licensed counselors. Aftercare support helps reduce the risk of relapse, reinforce coping strategies, improve social skills and communication, and encourage healthy lifestyle choices. Depending on individual needs, aftercare may last several weeks, months, or years, and may also incorporate community recovery groups such as 12-step recovery. Positive Recovery also offers monthly progress reports to employers or licensing boards when required.

Positive Recovery’s IOP/PHP program with Clayton was exactly what I needed to begin/build a foundation in my journey to recovery. After many failed attempts to maintain sobriety (on my own), this program provided the education, support, accountability, friendship, guidance, etc. necessary for me to abstain from D&A and to heal emotionally, physically and spiritually. I recommend this program to anyone feeling alone, stuck, scared, hopeless, or depressed in addiction.

I can’t say enough about Positive recovery especially my counselor Clayton Goldberg at the Energy corridor location. My counselor literally saved my life basically gave me the opportunity to make a new amazing life I’m proud of. I honestly was apprehensive about having a male counselor but he turned out to be one of the best counselors I have ever had and I will forever be grateful that I was his client and able to receive all the wisdom and support he has to offer. The mental transformation he helped me achieve has made me strong, and able to cope with life and all its ups and downs. He went above and beyond for my recovery and would pick up the phone and be available for me even when it was probably inconvenient. Positive recovery and it’s staff gave me my life back and really care for their clients. Clayton genuinely cares about his clients and you can tell this is a genuine passion and something he really loves that it’s not just a job to him. I have never met anyone so pure and honest yet cool and relatable. He was definitely the blessing I needed to be able to come so far in my own recovery. He definitely practices what he preaches and when he tells you he is going to do something or help with something in regards to recovery he always delivers and is a prime example of someone living in active recovery in regards to the teachings of AA and the positive recovery way of life. I can’t thank Clayton or positive recovery enough for guiding me to a live a life I am now proud of and love! 5 stars does not do this facility justice!

I have not always thought that opening a door can result in so many different possibilities-most definitely not the case while I was drinking! Becoming sober over the period of a few months and having the pleasure to open that door into not only an outpatient facility, but also in a virtual setting has had an incredible impact on my life and the life in recovery!

I live 500+ miles from Houston, therefore, the virtual door that was opened provided so much more insight for my personal growth. The interaction with others had just as much of an impact than it would’ve been in a live, in-person session.

And I truly believe that all (mostly all!) can be contributed to Clayton’s ability to give his absoluteness to this aspect of Positive Recovery! He has a passion for this that other folks in his field should all strive for. It’s impressive to witness his ability to bring the group into the recovery intimacies that are so desired whether it be a few people or twelve of us; zoomed in or in person. It doesn’t matter because Clayton knows it’s about the “connection” for whoever is in the group to have such explosive ripple effects in so many amazing ways!

I wouldn’t think twice if you are having any hesitations or reservations about this! Go for it: honest, willing, and open-minded!

Positive Recovery has truly transformed my life by not only changing the way I think about alcohol but more importantly, the way I feel about myself as a result of no longer using it to cope with the day to day stresses of life. I can now live a much more meaningful life with both purpose and passion. The team (Linda, Chasity, and Brady) did an excellent job in providing me with an environment to process safely in so that I could begin my healing journey along with providing great and detailed information on how addiction works, the havoc it creates, and the tools to help one overcome it. My work isn’t done but they were able to help get me started on the right path and continue my life going forward alcohol free. A huge thank you to everyone there!

I was referred to Positive Recovery Center by a family member and it was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. After an 8 day stay at an inpatient detox facility I began 10 days/4 hours a day of PHP, a Partial Hospital Program at Positive Recovery Center. We had daily group sessions which were both educational and therapeutic in a group setting. Following that I continued in the IOP, Intensive Outpatient Program which met 3 hours/day for the next 10 weeks. They too were both educational and therapeutic. While in the program I was strongly encouraged to begin attending AA, Alcoholic Anonymous meetings. I was resistant to that at first but went to meeting’s anyway. After trying a few I found one that I really liked and where I felt comfortable. After my 3 months in the Positive Recovery Center program I graduated on March 30, 2023. Since graduating I have been attending AA meetings 4-6 times a week and have never felt better in my life. Today, July 11, 2023 I received my 6 month chip from AA. I am working the steps, which is part of the AA Program and have sponsor who is guiding me through the process. I must give credit to the Positive Recovery Center for getting me started on my road to recovery.
