Newport Academy - Teen OCD Program
Newport Academy offers a specialized program for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related anxiety conditions such as agoraphobia, panic disorders, social anxiety, and trichotillomania. Teenagers reside in gender-specific homes and receive academic assistance from in-house teachers and tutors. Newport Academy prioritizes involving families in the recovery process through family therapy and ongoing communication.
Comprehensive OCD Treatment
The core of Newport Academy’s OCD treatment is exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP). Teens participate in ERP therapy sessions for 4.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. These sessions occur in both group and individual settings, supplemented by homework assignments for teens to complete independently. Additionally, Newport Academy offers other evidence-based therapies including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT).
Customized Care for Teens and Families
Newport Academy’s dedicated staff comprises psychiatrists, family therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, art therapists, music therapists, dieticians, and adventure therapists. An initial psychiatric evaluation guides treatment decisions, including considerations for medication that may alleviate symptoms. Both teenagers and their parents receive psychoeducation on OCD, and family therapy sessions are conducted to facilitate holistic healing.
Accredited Services and Academic Assistance
Newport Academy offers on-site academic support, equipped with a dedicated schoolroom, staffed by teachers and tutors. Accredited by the Joint Commission, Newport Academy accepts most private insurance providers for their services.
