New Directions for Women
New Directions for Women operates a campus providing on-site detox and residential treatment exclusively for women, including pregnant women and those with children. With over 40 years of experience, they have served more than 5,000 women since 1977, with over 600 children residing on campus and 200 babies born to program participants. Their comprehensive, gender-specific approach addresses dual diagnosis, with an average program duration of approximately 90 days. Tailored treatment plans are designed for each woman and her family, including options like PHP, IOP, and sober living. Residential treatment encompasses various therapies and activities, such as individual and group therapy, 12-Step meetings, psychodrama, grief and anger management, trauma therapy, and experiential treatments like yoga, art, horticulture, and equine therapy.
A typical day at New Directions for Women starts with breakfast and medication at 6 am, followed by morning reflection and community meetings. The day continues with group sessions, yoga, and off-site 12-Step meetings six days a week, offering a structured yet flexible schedule. In 2013, New Directions expanded its capacity by opening two state-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation homes in Costa Mesa, California, catering to women with and without children, providing cozy common areas and a supervised playroom for children. The campus offers lush gardens and a serene environment. Accredited by CARF and accepting most private insurance, New Directions for Women is a sanctuary for women seeking recovery.
