Founded in 2013, Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services operates a Joint Commission-accredited residential treatment program tailored to teen boys and girls aged 12-17, addressing mental health, behavioral, and substance use concerns. Muir Wood’s approach emphasizes individualized care, gender separation, and family involvement across its 12 California locations, accommodating up to 18 teens each.
Customized Care
Muir Wood’s treatment protocol commences with thorough psychological assessments. The residential program features key elements such as weekly family intensives, comprehensive psychological evaluations, biweekly individual therapy sessions, psychiatric assessments, biweekly family support groups, and more. Regular team meetings ensure ongoing evaluation and adjustment of treatment plans. Additionally, Muir Wood incorporates experiential and adventure therapies like hiking, art and music therapy, as well as yoga and meditation.
Educational Support
Muir Wood offers academic assistance for teens in grades 7-12, collaborating with their home schools to maintain educational continuity during treatment. With 3+ hours of daily schooling on weekdays, supplemented by virtual options, the program ensures academic progress. On-site academic staff accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) facilitate and oversee students’ educational endeavors.
