La Hacienda
La Hacienda, situated in Hunt, Texas, is a residential rehabilitation center specializing in treating individuals grappling with alcohol and drug addictions alongside co-occurring mental health issues. Established in 1972, La Hacienda integrates clinical, spiritual, medical, and 12-Step methodologies. Operating with a staff-to-client ratio of 2:1, their medical team comprises five full-time physicians, four internists, and one psychiatrist. The nursing staff provides round-the-clock care throughout the week.
La Hacienda offers a range of programs including medically assisted detoxification, partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), inpatient care, and aftercare support. Their treatment approach combines evidence-based therapies with holistic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), art therapy, experiential therapies, family therapy, group and individual counseling, life skills training, motivational interviewing, nutrition therapy, rational behavior therapy (RBT), and recreational therapy.
The facility boasts a 24/7 doctor-and-nurse-supervised detox program housed in a separate building known as the Special Care Unit. The duration of detox varies based on individual needs, with the typical stay ranging from 28 to 60 days. During treatment, the use of cell phones and computers is prohibited.
Family involvement is encouraged and includes a dedicated family week, a family recovery plan, educational sessions on addiction, boundaries, and codependency, as well as discussions addressing both client and family needs and insights into the 12-step approach. Accredited by the Joint Commission, La Hacienda accepts most major insurance plans.
La Hacienda’s layout resembles that of a resort, featuring hotel-style shared accommodations. Clients are encouraged to engage in outdoor activities for reading, meditation, and therapy sessions. The meticulously landscaped grounds promote tranquility with lush gardens and flower beds. On-campus recreational facilities include a pool table, ping pong table, board games, books, movies, a fully equipped gym, climbing wall, and outdoor pool. The dining experience resembles that of a restaurant, with meals prepared by a culinary team collaborating closely with a nutritionist to ensure balanced nutrition. Special dietary needs are accommodated, and additional supervision is provided for clients with eating disorders. Vending machines offering soda are also available on-site.
